Does Evil Eye Exist??? | What I Believe About Nazar
TOO MANY people ask me how I'm so open and expressive on SM and assume that I don't believe in NAZR. So, here's how I like to think and what I believe.
3 min read
So many of you have asked me the same question. How can I be so open and expressive on social media if I believe in nazar? Today I’m finally answering it. This one is just me, sharing what I believe and how I think about the evil eye.
Yes, I believe in nazar
I do believe in nazar. I always have. Not just because it’s in my religion, but because I’ve seen it happen. In my family, in my friends, all around me. People talk about it. What I see is that when someone’s happiness or success stirs envy and jealousy in others, that negative energy can cause harm. But what people tend to do is hide their joy. They pretend everything is miserable just to avoid nazar. And I don’t think that’s the real solution.
The real meaning of mashallah
We’re taught to say mashallah when we talk about something good. But what was actually intended? I think many of us say it with fear in our hearts. Like we’re scared someone’s envy will take it away. That’s not right. The word mashallah implies two things: gratitude and modesty. It’s acknowledging that this good thing wouldn’t have happened without God. So when you say it, it should come from a place of thankfulness, not terror.
Why I share my happiness
Some people think sharing your success is naive. I tell you why I do it. Sharing happiness serves as encouragement. It tells someone else, “If she can do it, maybe I can too.” It spreads good vibes. I don’t believe most people are bad and jealous. Many are genuinely happy for others. And sharing good things increases people’s faith. If you go around saying everything sucks, you’re not giving Allah Mian due credit for all the great things He does. You’re actually reducing people’s faith in His kindness.
Fear Allah, not people
I’m not afraid of nazar or people. I’m afraid of Allah Mian when I forget to be modest about everything I’ve achieved. When I’m less grateful. When I give too much weight to the bad things and focus too much on the issues. That’s when I’m scared, because I’m not being grateful enough. Protection from nazar comes through modesty and gratitude, not through hiding, pretending, or lying. Those are negative. Gratitude and modesty are positive. And I believe Allah Mian will not let anyone’s envy hurt you if you are truly grateful.
Celebrate the small things
Every time I have made a big deal out of the smallest happiness, Allah Mian has given me more. Not for show, not with a cocky attitude, but with genuine gratitude. When you celebrate the little joys, you’re telling the universe that you see the good. And I swear, He will continue to give you more. The only times you should be scared are when you’re ungrateful, when you have negative feelings towards God for not giving you something, or when you’re being cocky and forgetting that everything you have is from Him.
So what now?
Next time you share something happy, or see someone else sharing their joy, remind yourself: this is from Allah Mian, not from anything else. That will prevent any negativity in your heart. And you can believe that if God gave her this, He can give it to me too. I just have to learn to be grateful with what I have. Celebrate the little happiness, and watch how your perspective shifts. Positive vibes only, but real ones. Not toxic positivity, just a heart that chooses gratitude over fear.
