How to wear Hair Extensions - Balmain Complete Hair Extensions

Here's only my second attempt at wearing these Balmain hair extensions, which only goes to show how user friendly they are.

3 min read

I know I look different. That is the first thing I say in this video, because I am sitting here with long, flowing hair that is definitely not my own. I had not planned to film anything during Ramzan, but so many of you asked for a review and a tutorial on these Balmain hair extensions that I just had to sit down and do it. So here I am, a complete beginner, figuring it out with you.

The honest truth: I am no pro

I say it right at the start. “I’m not a professional and I’m not very good at hairstyling so this is going to be a very noob job.” And that is the whole point. You do not need to be an expert to try something that makes you feel a little more put together. These extensions are so user friendly that even on my second attempt, I felt confident enough to show you.

What you actually get

The box comes with two pieces that make up a complete head set. The ones I am wearing are 60 centimeters long in chocolate brown, but they also come in 25 and 40 centimeters. Each piece has clips attached, and the whole idea is that you create a little nest in your natural hair, clip them in, and let your own hair fall over them. No damage, no fuss.

The memory hair difference

These are made of something called memory hair. It is a synthetic fiber that is lighter than human hair, so you barely feel like you are wearing anything. The real magic is that it remembers a style. You can curl it or straighten it, and it stays that way until you apply heat again. “It basically remembers that,” I explain, “so it remains that way.” That means less daily styling and more just living your life.

My very simple method

I use a regular comb to part my hair. For the first piece, I create a section at the back, place the extension, and then clip the middle first. I make a little nest with my fingers, secure it, and then do the same on both sides. For the second piece, I start the part from my eyebrow and go across. Then I let all my hair down, and the extensions just disappear into my natural texture. “It literally does not look like extensions,” I say, “it looks like your natural hair.”

The small thing that matters

What I love most is how soft they feel and how much volume they give without looking fake. I mention that you should brush them regularly and you can even use a conditioner to keep them healthy. But the real small thing is this: I tried something new, I was not perfect at it, and I shared it anyway. That is the energy I want to bring here. You do not have to wait until you are an expert to enjoy a little change.

If you have been curious about hair extensions but felt intimidated, let this be your sign. Grab a comb, make a messy part, and see how it feels. It might just become one of those small things that makes your day a little brighter.
