What's in my bag?!
It's crazy how many requests I got for this one! Enjoy!
4 min read
This one is just me, emptying out my everyday bag because so many of you asked for it. I get it. There is something oddly satisfying about seeing what someone else carries around, the little objects that make up a day. So here it is, no filter, just the contents of my brown bag and the honest stories behind them.
The bag that goes with everything
I got this brown bag from Insignia back in April. It is the perfect size, not too big, not too small. I love it because it really matches with everything and anything. I can just pick it up and carry it around without thinking. That is the kind of ease I need.
The things that just sit there
The first thing my hand found was a hair clip. I thought the blue was really nice, but then I chopped my hair off. So it has remained unused since the day I bought it. I am not big on hairstyles, you must have noticed. I usually just let my hair be the way it is.
Then there are my shades, a little funky on the sides. I do not wear them often, and when I do, it is always this style. I am not even sure if it suits me. I will not spend too much money on shades because I know I will break them, scratch them, or just lose them. So these sit in my bag without a cover, a little scratched, a little honest.
My wallet and the 150 rupees
Of course, my wallet is in there. It is a Coach wallet my brother-in-law gifted me on my nikkah. Inside, there is not a lot of money. Right now, I have 150 rupees. That is it. Some ID cards, a few sticky notes, and that is about it. Nothing glamorous, just real.
My planner is usually empty
I carry a pencil case, blue and fun, filled with pointers, highlighters, sticky notes, and even a random candle. I have to plan my stuff, so I also carry a planner. I do weekly planning in it, but as you can see, my everyday planning is usually empty. I really need to plan more regularly. Sometimes I like to use stickers and stuff, but the truth is, this planner is literally everything to me, even when the pages stay blank. I like to write stuff down. Everything that needs to be done, all the to-dos, all the items, everything goes in here as a list first, and then I organize it into the planner. So yes, both come with me.
For my really dry hands
I recently started using a perfume from The Body Shop, the Black Musk one. It smells really nice. I got it on Valentine’s Day, but only started using it recently. Then there is a body lotion, which might seem silly, but I have really dry skin and really dry hands. I usually need to carry some sort of lotion. The one I normally use for my hands and face was finished, so I just threw this Marc Jacobs lotion in my bag. It is called Evening and it smells wonderful. A small thing, but it matters when your hands feel like paper.
The makeup that freshens me up
Every girl has a makeup bag in her bag, and mine holds just the basics. A lipstick, a bronzer, and a face powder. If I want to freshen up, I quickly bronze my face, put on some powder, and swipe on a lipstick. Right now, there is a lipstick I am wearing, one of my favorite colors, and a matte one that stays put forever. That is all I need.
Why this matters
This is not a perfectly curated bag. It is a bag with an unused hair clip, a planner that is often empty, and a wallet with 150 rupees. It is a bag that holds my dry hands and my love for lists. I think that is why you asked for this video. You wanted to see the small things that actually make up a day, not the polished version. So here it is. And if you want to share what is in your bag, I would love to know. Maybe we all carry a little bit of the same beautiful mess.
